Books Read in 2018: To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before Trilogy - Jenny Han
Do you know what it’s like to like someone so much you can’t stand it and know they’ll never feel the same way? Probably not. People like you don’t have to suffer through those kinds of things. It was easier after Gen moved and we stopped being friends. At least then I didn’t have to hear about it.
And now that the year is almost over, I know for sure that I am also over you. I’m immune to you now, Peter. I’m really proud to say that I’m the only girl in this school who has been immunized to the charms of Peter Kavinsky. All because I had a really bad dose of you in seventh grade and most of eighth. Now I never ever have to worry about catching you ever again. What a relief! I bet if I did ever kiss you again, I would definitely catch something, and it wouldn’t be love. It would be an STD!
“But Anna wants nothing more than to be with Elsa!”
Whether you support canon Elsa and Anna or Elsanna, this just sums the fact that they’re perfect for each other as sisters or whoever you want them to be in your AU and Elsanna fan fiction.
This is seriously the only duo I know where canon and non canon characterizations work so well.
Suddenly, the pressure in her lungs began to relax, and her body was infused with a warmth that made her toes and fingers tingle. She felt her sister’s arms wrap around her and squeeze tightly. Shadowy figures began to appear in the periphery of her vision, and the muffled voices became clearer. Her heart began to pound against her chest and, finally, she felt movement return to her limbs. Opening her eyes, the first thing Anna saw was the top of her sister’s head, nestled against her shoulder. Elsa’s body shook with violent sobs.
For a moment, Anna didn’t move. She knew she could, but she wanted to make this hug last. She had waited for so long to feel her sister’s arms around her, and she wasn’t going to waste a minute of it. Finally, ever so slowly, she lowered her own arm, wrapping it around Elsa.
“Oh, Elsa.”
In her arms, Anna felt Elsa stiffen in shock and then, with a cry of joy, Elsa hugged her tighter. The sisters stood there, clinging to each other.
“You sacrificed yourself for me?” Elsa said, finally pulling back.
So, in the Frozen tie-in book, A Sister More Like Me, it’s mentioned that Elsa loves geometry.
While at first this seems like a throwaway piece of trivia about Elsa, her interest in geometry makes a ton of sense when you think about how she was able to construct her ice palace. At first, I didn’t put much thought into Elsa being able to construct a beautiful (and structurally sound) ice castle like it was nothing, but when you consider that bit about her love of geometry, it provides an actual answer as to how she was able to do it.
Geometry is used a lot in architecture and construction, as knowing what shapes to use plays an important role in making sure a building is structurally sound. The very first thing Elsa does when making her castle is creating a center point to ensure the structure will be balanced.
And when she actually begins to build the castle, we see a myriad of shapes being formed and used.
Finally, Elsa uses the term “fractals” in “Let it Go” (“My soul is spiraling in frozen fractals all around…”). A fractal is a geometric term that describes a set that displays a self-similar pattern and is often used to catalog snowflakes. The fact that Elsa knows and uses this word really speaks volumes about her knowledge of geometry.
Tl;dr- Elsa used math to build a sweet-ass ice castle.
Okay, but pause. Pause pause pause.
DISNEY PRINCESS, NAY, QUEEN, LOVES MATH
GIRLS ARE OFTEN DISCOURAGED OUT OF STEM FIELDS.
How many girls can we save from the assumption of “girls don’t do math?”
“You know, Queen Elsa likes math. A special kind, called geometry.”
“You know that one part in Let It Go where Elsa says her soul is in fractals? She’s talking about a kind of math used in measuring snowflakes.”
“Did you know Elsa uses math to build her castle in Frozen?”
How many girls want to be Elsa?
Keep this factoid stored away in your brains. USE IT.
Girls do so like math. Even higher math. Queen Elsa is one of them.
no but just think about it for a second.
Elsa playing to Tangram in her room when she was isolated. on repeat. in multiple types and sizes. with like hundreds of other possibilities of where to place the shapes in her mind before even touching them.
Elsa 2000% being an awesome architect if she wasn’t Queen (even tho she loves her job and taking care of her kingdom). Elsa having meetings with the most impressively talented architects of the realm for new Arendelle castle designs and still jaw-dropping every single one of them when she shows her drafts
Elsa designing her own private ship.without any model.
Elsa declaring to the Architect Master she built her goddamn ice palace in less than one night. and wasn’t even out of breath after that. he almost passes out and stares at her in awe and she’s just like#idk #magic just makes everything easier
